Melvin Levinson's article "Needed: A New Literacy" had some great points and agruments about the kind of educational system that kids today grow up in. The fact is that kids today are not having fun in school because of the restrictions that we put on them. In society today we put to much emphisis on making everything dull. Like Levinson said in his articel, "a young child will look up in the sky, see something flying, and be wowed at the feathers and the colors, where as we see it as just a bird." I enjoyed the article but some of what Melvin was saying was just a little bit over my head.

In Rebecca Blood's article "weblogs: a history and perspective" I learned about what a weblog was and the evolution of just a few sites to now millions of weblog sites across the internet. I found that by the time I had finished the article that I wanted to see one for my self. It is also interesting to now that there are different kinds of weblogs; some that you just post your daily ideas and thoughs and others where you are able to anaylize a converstion from the outside and even join the conversation. If you are at all intersted in weblogs and want to learn I suggest going to www.rebeccablood.net/essays/weblog_history.html and looking around.
